Workshop

International Workshop on Nanoparticles for Soil Remediation, 19th December 2014, Escola Superior Agrária de Coimbra

The Organising Committee is pleased to announce that the International Workshop on Nanoparticles for Soil Remediation will be held at Escola Superior Agrária de Coimbra, Portugal, on the 19th of December 2014.

The participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, views and ideas on the use of nanoparticles for soil remediation. The discussion goes from synthesis of nanoparticles to the degradation mechanisms of persistent organic pollutants and enhancement of biological removal of pollutants. Relevant ecotoxicological effects of introducing nanoparticles in soils will be addressed, and a pilot-scale remedial action of a contaminated site using nanoparticles will be presented.

This event is organized by CERNAS – Research Center for Natural Resources, Environment and Society (Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra) and DEQ/UC – Department of Chemical Engineering (University of Coimbra) under the framework of project NanoDC – Electrokinetic Remediation of soil contaminated with persistent organic pollutants using iron nanoparticles (PTDC/AGR AAM/101643/2008).

All interested members of the scientific committee are welcome!
